Liberty of London

Liberty of London fabric’s collection are simply stunning. We cannot begin to tell you how much we love Liberty Fabrics. We are clearly and obviously a little obsessed with them.

Every time a new range comes out we are at my kitchen table and of course you will hear audible squeals of delight. Consequently we are continually adding to our Liberty fabrics. We designed the Olinda Falls Quilt to showcase the lovely floral prints in the cotton range and are currently doing a simple liberty lawn quilt which should be ready for quilting in the next few weeks!

Liberty of London designs originally came from Arthur Lasenby Liberty’s wish to influence people. Firstly he gave them the opportunity to buy beautiful things by opening his first store in London in 1875. Secondly he wanted people to be able to have a home that was a place to be happy in!

The use of Liberty’s collection of imported fabrics in his store proved to be enormously successful. Consequently Liberty set up an in-house design studio to produce its own eclectic range of designs. They have now been designing and printing fabrics for over 140 years! Originally the fabric were printed using the traditional woodblock methods.

The current Liberty of London fabric team continue to use traditional methods for designing. They still create every design by hand and continue to use traditional methods including paint, pencil and inks. The collections are renowned for their fine details, intricate pattens and most importantly use original Liberty colour’s.
